Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist, as well as anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
